- ORCHESTRAL WORLD PREMIERE of Ernesto Lecuona's Rumba-Rhapsody. Performed by the Conductor Javier Jose Mendoza, Pianist Tomas Y. Tirino, the FIU Symphony Orchestra, and the FIU Concert Choir.
- A major exponent of Spanish & Latin Music, and master of classical repertoire, Tirino has performed at the Bolshoi & St. Petersburg, Lincoln Center, with Boston Pops, and numerous European orchestras. Time Magazine chose his Lecuona recording as one of its "10 Best," and Gramophone called his “cut glass virtuosity & seductive charm truly formidable.”
